First Communion Letter from Jenna Miller, May 25, 2020

Dear First Communion parents:
 
I have happy news!  With the re-opening of public Masses in our diocese, we are now able also to schedule First Communions for your child(ren).
 
I know that every family may be in different circumstances in regards to the coronavirus.  We at St. Mary's are also very mindful of the need to keep everyone as safe as possible.  Therefore, we are offering several opportunities for a First Communion date:
 
  • During the weekdays of June 2-5 and 9-12, we will be able to accommodate about four families at each daily (smaller) Mass.  See below for dates and times.
  • During the weekend of June 13-14 (The Feast of Corpus Christi), Father Omar will offer the Saturday 7 PM Mass in the church, only for First Communion families.
  •  Father Omar will offer the above Masses as bilingual when there are Spanish-speaking people present.
  • During the same weekend of June 13-14, Father Omar will offer the outdoor 11:45 a.m. Spanish Mass for First Communion families and other parishioners.
Please respond with your family's preference, and I will put together a schedule:
  • Tues, June 2, 7 pm
  • Weds, June 3, 8:30 am
  • Thurs, June 4, 8:30 am
  • Fri, June 5, 8:30 am
  • Tues, June 9, 7 pm
  • Weds, June 10, 8:30 am
  • Thurs, June 11, 8:30 am
  • Fri, June 12, 8:30 am
  • Sat, June 13, 7 pm
  • Sun, June 14, 11:45 am (en espanol)
*Only immediate family members (First Communicant, parents, siblings, and grandparents) should attend the First Communion Mass as part of your group this year. 
*There will be no reception.  We will have gifts for your child, from different ministries in the parish.
*We may be able to offer individual (but not group) professional photographs.  Please let me know if you are interested.
 
*If you have not picked up your child's banner-making materials, please contact me to arrange a curbside pickup time. 
*Completed banners are due by June 1st, if at all possible.
 
Please also let me know if you have other questions about First Communion or about the church's plan to maintain safety measures (social distancing, sanitizing, etc).

Queridos padres de los estudiantes de la primera comunión:

Tengo buenas noticias! Con la reapertura de  las Misas públicas en nuestra diócesis, ahora también podemos programar las Primeras Comuniones para sus hijos.

 

Sé que cada familia puede estar en diferentes circunstancias con respecto al coronavirus. En St. Mary’s también somos muy conscientes de la necesidad de mantener a todos lo más seguros posible. Por lo tanto, estamos ofreciendo varias oportunidades para que elija una fecha para la Primera Comunión:

  • Durante la semana los días 2 al 5 de junio y del 9 al 12 de junio, podremos acomodar a unas cuatro familias en cada Misa. vea a continuación las fechas y horarios.
  • Durante el fin de semana del 13 al 14 de junio (La Fiesta del Corpus Christi), el Padre Omar

ofrecerá la Misa del sábado a las 7 PM en la iglesia, solo para las familias de la Primera Comunión.

  • El Padre Omar ofrecerá las Misas ya mencionadas bilingües cuando haya personas de habla

hispana presentes.

  • Durante el mismo fin de semana del 13 al 14 de junio, el Padre Omar ofrecerá la Misa en español al aire libre a las 11:45 a.m. para las familias de la Primera Comunión y otros feligreses.

 

Por Favor, déjeme saber el horario de la misa que su familia prefiere, y prepararé la lista con los horarios de cada uno:

  • Martes 2 de junio, 7 pm
  • Miércoles, 3 de junio, 8:30 a.m.
  • Jueves 4 de junio, 8:30 a.m.
  • Viernes, 5 de junio, 8:30 a.m.
  • Martes 9 de junio, 7 pm
  • Miércoles, 10 de junio, 8:30 a.m.
  • Jueves 11 de junio, 8:30 a.m.
  • Viernes, 12 de junio, 8:30 a.m.
  • Sábado 13 de junio, 7 pm
  • Dom, 14 de junio, 11:45 am (en español)

 

* Solo los miembros de la familia indispensables (candidato, padres, hermanos y abuelos) deben asistir a la misa de primera comunión como parte de su grupo este año.

* No habrá recepción. Tendremos regalos para su hijo, de diferentes ministerios en la parroquia.

* Podemos ofrecer fotografías profesionales individuales (pero no grupales). Por favor hazme saber si estás interesado.

 

* Si no ha recogido los materiales para hacer el banderín de su hijo, comuníquese conmigo para ponernos deacuerdo cuando puede pasar a recogerlo.

* Los banderines terminados deben entregarse antes de su misa de primera comunion.
